The substantive review of the Maanshan Nuclear Power Plant's license renewal application and restart plan has commenced. The Nuclear Safety Commission (NSC) invited external review committee members to inspect the plant's spent fuel pool, containment building, and other areas over the past two days. The NSC stated that it exchanged views with Taipower regarding the inspection findings and operational planning. According to the NSC website, the inspection covered the main control room, containment building, spent fuel pool, seawater pump room, emergency diesel generators, main turbines, main generators, and low-level radioactive waste storage facilities to ensure a comprehensive review. The NSC emphasized that it will strictly review documents according to international standards and conduct on-site verification. Updates will be posted on the 'Nuclear Power Plant Restart Review and Control' webpage. The NSC received the application on March 27, confirmed its completeness on April 8, and held a local briefing in Hengchun on April 28.
