During exterior wall renovation work at a residence on Sanzhuazikeng Road in Ruifang District, New Taipei City, a 39-year-old man surnamed Xiao was dismantling scaffolding this afternoon when it suddenly collapsed. Xiao fell 3 meters to the ground, suffering rib fractures and bilateral lung contusions. Fortunately, he remained conscious and was transported to the hospital for treatment. Neighbors stated that the project had been ongoing for one to two months. The accident occurred around 1:00 PM during the dismantling of the scaffolding. When paramedics arrived, Xiao was conscious and had no obvious external wounds, but he complained of a loss of sensation in his lower body and was immediately transported to Keelung Chang Gung Memorial Hospital. According to the doctor's diagnosis, Xiao suffered two rib fractures on his right side and contusions to both lungs. He will undergo further examination via MRI, after which doctors will evaluate whether surgical intervention is necessary.
