Jensen Huang: NVIDIA Needs More Power; Energy Growth is Critical to Taiwan's GDP

AI chip giant NVIDIA held a Taiwan employee meeting today at the site of its new Taiwan headquarters in Beitou Shilin Technology Park (T17, T18). CEO Jensen Huang called out to Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an, who was present, stating that NVIDIA needs to use more energy in Taiwan. Just as human employees need rice, AI employees need electricity. "We need a lot more electricity," he said, emphasizing that energy growth is critical to Taiwan's GDP.

Huang said that Taiwan is booming. Looking back 4 or 5 years ago, NVIDIA's annual investment in Taiwan was about $10 billion to $15 billion USD (approximately NT$313.5 billion to NT$470.3 billion). Now, NVIDIA's annual investment in Taiwan has reached $100 billion to $150 billion USD, driving an incredible ecosystem in Taiwan.

He mentioned that NVIDIA will hold the GTC Taipei event in a few days, where all partners will help NVIDIA realize its dreams. "Taiwan is the epicenter of the AI revolution," he said. This is the source of all chip and packaging technologies, the place where AI supercomputers are created, and Taiwan is undoubtedly growing.

Huang shifted the topic and called out to Chiang Wan-an, who was sitting in the audience, saying that NVIDIA needs to use more energy in Taiwan. Just as human employees need rice, AI employees need electricity. In the future, Taiwan will integrate human employees, robot employees, and AI employees. To achieve this goal, "We need a lot more electricity."

Huang stated bluntly that this is a challenge faced by every industrial revolution. "If you want to participate in the industrial revolution and grow together, you need energy," he said, reiterating that energy growth is critical to Taiwan's GDP.
