The Shaw Prize Foundation in Hong Kong announced the 2026 laureates today. The Astronomy Prize was awarded to Ken'ichi Nomoto, Professor Emeritus at the University of Tokyo, and Stanford Woosley, Professor of Astronomy and Astrophysics at the University of California, Santa Cruz, for their research on stellar explosions. The Life Science and Medicine Prize was awarded to Anne Dejean and Hugues de Thé from France, and Chen Zhu from Shanghai Jiao Tong University. The Mathematical Sciences Prize went to Emmanuel Candès of Stanford University and Camillo De Lellis of the Institute for Advanced Study. Each prize carries a monetary award of $1.2 million. Starting next year, a new Computer Science Prize will be added.
