Taipei Stock Market Falls 620.36 Points

(Central News Agency, Taipei, 28th) The Taipei stock market closed down 620.36 points today to 43,636.44 points, a decline of 1.40%, with a turnover of NT$1,590.476 billion.

The weighted index opened at 44,240.80 points, with an intraday high of 44,954.09 points and a low of 43,236.36 points. The index excluding financial stocks was 39,635.09 points, down 590.45 points.

Performance of the eight major sectors: cement/ceramics fell 1.93%, food rose 0.18%, plastics fell 2%, textiles rose 2.95%, machinery/electronics fell 1.57%, paper rose 0.34%, construction fell 0.14%, and finance fell 0.49%.

Buy orders totaled 28.57 million shares, sell orders 23.64 million shares, and traded volume was 19.43 million shares.

At the close, 412 stocks rose, 609 fell, and 84 remained flat.

The top five stocks by trading volume were Innolux, Active Uni-President Upgrade 50, PSMC, AUO, and Active Uni-President Taiwan Growth.

The top five gainers were Hong Yang-KY, Dayi, Cangyu, Gengding, and Shishuo Industrial.

The top five losers were Global Unichip, Innolux (睿生光電), Les Enphants, Sinogreenergy, and Hiwin Technologies (高力).
