Minister of Health and Welfare Shih Chung-liang explained today that eligibility for the 0-18 growth subsidy requires two conditions: 'Republic of China nationality' and 'household registration in Taiwan.' In other words, those who are away from Taiwan for long periods cannot receive it. For children aged 6 to 18, half of the subsidy will be deposited into a dedicated account, which is a pre-saving concept different from the cash payments for those under 6. Shih pointed out that if a citizen has been abroad for more than two years, their household registration is forcibly removed, making them ineligible. If a child returns and registers at age 7, the subsidy will be calculated from that point on.
