The Japanese stock market closed lower, primarily due to renewed military conflict in the Persian Gulf, which sparked market concerns that the prospects for US-Iran peace negotiations might deteriorate. The benchmark Nikkei 225 index fell 306.29 points, or 0.47%, to close at 64,693.12 points. The TOPIX index fell 16.00 points, or 0.41%, to close at 3,902.01 points.
