Hualien City: Heping Road lanes to narrow for 3 months starting May 29 for flood detention project

Central News. To improve flooding issues in the Nanbin area of Hualien City, the Hualien County Government is constructing a new flood detention pond. Due to the installation of drainage box culverts, part of the sidewalk and motorcycle lanes at the north end of Heping Road will be closed for 3 months starting tomorrow, though two-way traffic will be maintained. The Construction Department stated that lanes at the intersection of Heping Road and Nanbin Road will be narrowed by about 130 meters for 3 months. During construction, the road width will be maintained at 3.5 meters. Additionally, the Hualien City Office will conduct wall improvement work at the Zhongshan Road underpass starting tomorrow for 3 days, with 24-hour continuous construction. The underpass will be closed, and traffic must use alternative routes, with phased reopening expected on the morning of June 1.
