Students in Remote Hualien Seek Help from Police Officers; Station Becomes Community Care Hub

In Zhuoxi Township, Hualien, where multi-generational households are common, students from Zhuoxi Elementary School often visit the police station after school to ask officers for help with their studies. The Yuli Precinct of the Hualien County Police Bureau has partnered with the school to formalize this after-school care, providing a safe learning space for children while they wait for their parents. Officer Liao Pei-wen, who helps the children, is seen as a mentor. The precinct chief stated that this initiative helps break down stereotypes about police and deepens community trust.
