Former President Tsai Ing-wen traveled south to Kaohsiung yesterday at the invitation of DPP legislators Lai Jui-lung and Chiu Yi-ying to conduct an in-depth tour of the agricultural sector. Tsai stated that Kaohsiung possesses representative agricultural brands and high-quality produce that deserve wider recognition. Following her previous visit in mid-April, this trip focused on experiencing the charm of agriculture and promoting local rural brands. In Meinong, Tsai participated in food and agriculture education and tasted Liouguei mountain tea. Meinong Farmers' Association General Manager Chung Ching-hui introduced local rice varieties, and Tsai personally made rice rolls. Legislator Chiu Yi-ying highlighted the 'Rice Passbook' system, which promotes local production and consumption. Later, in Dashu, Tsai visited a lychee orchard to experience the harvesting and packaging process. Legislator Lai Jui-lung emphasized that future efforts will focus on expanding marketing channels, strengthening cold-chain logistics, and integrating tourism with agriculture to bring Kaohsiung's produce to the international stage.
