Uni-President Lions pitcher Jiang Shao-ching returned to the first team as a starter on May 3rd after a long absence, but has since suspended appearances due to muscle nerve inflammation. Manager Lin Yueh-ping stated that Jiang is still in his 'rehabilitation year' and hopes he can return to the first team in June.
Jiang Shao-ching suffered a pectoral muscle tear in 2024, causing him to miss the entire season last year. This year, after transferring to the Lions and returning to the first-team stage, he performed well against the Rakuten Monkeys, pitching 3 innings as a starter with 4 strikeouts and 1 unearned run. However, his scheduled start on May 17th was skipped, and he has not yet pitched in the second team.
Lin Yueh-ping said in an interview today that the team has a plan for Jiang Shao-ching's appearances and is currently adjusting. He hopes Jiang can return to the first team in June, but before that, he will arrange for him to pitch in the second team to confirm his condition.
Considering the injury Jiang suffered last year, Lin Yueh-ping did not deny that this year is viewed as a 'rehabilitation year' for Jiang. He previously mentioned that it would be ideal for him to start 10 games. If things go smoothly, he should be able to pitch 2 more games before the end of the first half of the season, but there is no rush.
