Heavy Rain in Pingtung and Kaohsiung Mountains; Alert Issued for Hualien and Nantou

The Central Weather Administration (CWA) stated tonight that due to the vigorous development of convective cloud systems, short-duration heavy rainfall is likely. Heavy rain has already occurred in the mountainous areas of Pingtung County and Kaohsiung City, while localized heavy rain or torrential rain is possible in the mountainous areas of Hualien County and Nantou County. There is also a chance of localized heavy rain in the mountainous areas of Chiayi and south, Taitung, and Yunlin. The CWA reminds the public to be aware of lightning and strong gusts, and to be cautious of landslides, falling rocks, and flash floods in mountainous areas, as well as potential flooding in low-lying areas.
