Starlux Airlines Announces New Routes; Chairman Chang Kuo-wei Targets Zurich and Barcelona

According to the Central News Agency, Starlux Airlines Chairman Chang Kuo-wei stated that Oceania and European routes are key priorities for next year. While Prague will launch this year, Chang revealed that the airline has applied for slots in Zurich and Barcelona. For the Oceania market, a route to Sydney is planned, while the next phase of US expansion includes cities like Chicago, Washington, New York, and Dallas.

During the shareholders' meeting, Chang noted that following the addition of Busan in June and Bali in the second half of the year, the focus will shift to Europe and Oceania. With the US network largely established, the airline aims to balance its long-haul strategy with regional Asian capacity. Starlux has also ordered 10 A350F freighters to enter the cargo market, moving toward becoming a full-service carrier.

General Manager Glenn Chai added that while global demand is recovering in 2025, the industry faces headwinds such as tariff uncertainties and stricter US visa policies. Despite these challenges, Starlux continues its long-term growth strategy. Last year, the airline added two A350-900s and one A330-900neo, bringing the total fleet to 29 aircraft, with 4.9 million passengers and 87,000 tons of cargo transported.
