Heavy Rain Advisory for Kaohsiung and Pingtung; Caution Advised for Yunlin, Hualien, and Taitung

CNA Taipei, May 29. The Central Weather Administration (CWA) of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications has issued a heavy rain advisory. Due to strong afternoon convective activity, short-duration heavy rainfall is likely. Localized heavy rain or torrential rain is expected in Pingtung and the mountainous areas of Kaohsiung today. There is also a chance of localized heavy rain in Kaohsiung, Hualien, Taitung, and the mountainous areas of Nantou, Yunlin, and Chiayi. The CWA reminds the public to be alert for lightning and strong gusts, to take precautions against landslides, rockfalls, and flash floods in mountainous areas, and to guard against flooding in low-lying areas.
