Anthropic announced today that it has raised $65 billion in its latest funding round, bringing its post-money valuation to $965 billion. The artificial intelligence (AI) company is seeking to expand its computing power to meet the growing demand for its chatbot, Claude, and to scale its products. According to Reuters, this post-funding valuation for the H-series round puts Anthropic ahead of its competitor, OpenAI, which had a post-money valuation of $852 billion in March this year. In a blog post on its official website, Anthropic stated, 'Since completing our Series G funding in February, adoption by global enterprise customers has continued to grow, and earlier this month, our annualized run rate revenue surpassed $47 billion.' When Anthropic completed a $3 billion funding round in February this year, its valuation was $380 billion. According to investors and bankers familiar with the company's situation, Anthropic is actively seeking private capital while also preparing for an initial public offering (IPO). Both Anthropic and OpenAI plan to list on public markets, potentially as early as this year, to secure sufficient computing resources to support service operations and train new models. Anthropic's strategic infrastructure partners, including Micron Technology, Samsung Electronics, and SK Hynix, also participated in this funding round. This round also includes $15 billion in previously committed investments from several hyperscale cloud providers, including a $5 billion investment from Amazon.
