Chinese authorities recently stated that a Chinese citizen died while in detention in a Philippine prison. The Chinese Embassy in the Philippines has lodged a formal representation, demanding a comprehensive investigation by the Philippine side. According to China's Global Times, the embassy disclosed on the 29th that, based on information from Philippine authorities, a Chinese citizen detained for involvement in the Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) industry died suddenly on the 28th in an immigration detention center. The cause of death is currently under investigation. The embassy has demanded that the Philippine side conduct a full investigation into the circumstances of the death, and if there is any management responsibility or negligence, it should be seriously investigated and handled.
