Asian Fire Chiefs Conference: Taiwan Wins Bid to Host 2030 Event

The Fire and Disaster Management Agency (NFA) announced today that a delegation led by Director-General Hsiao Huan-chang attended the 34th annual conference of the Asian Fire Chiefs Association (IFCAA) in Japan and successfully secured the right to host the 36th annual conference in Taiwan in 2030. This will further enhance Taiwan's visibility and influence in the international fire and disaster prevention field.

Hsiao Huan-chang stated that during the conference, he met with the IFCAA President (Fire Chief of the Tokyo Fire Department) and proposed that Taiwan serve as an IFCAA Vice President, receiving a positive response and support. If successful, this will deepen Taiwan's participation in international fire and disaster prevention affairs and strengthen its role in regional disaster cooperation.

IFCAA is composed of fire chiefs from countries across Asia and Oceania, holding annual conferences every two years to promote cooperation in information and technology, and to foster friendly relations. Hsiao noted that Taiwan shared its achievements in disaster prevention personnel training, civilian emergency response teams, and digital resilience communication systems, receiving recognition from other countries. The NFA plans to continue using international platforms to build a safer, more resilient Taiwan and contribute to disaster cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region.
