Central News Agency, Taipei, May 30. The Ministry of National Defense held the 9th National High School Honor Guard Finals today. Students from nine high schools showcased their youthful energy and precision rifle skills despite the scorching sun. Ultimately, Gangming High School from Tainan won the championship for the second consecutive year, with Pingtung Girls' Senior High School and Hsin-Hsing High School taking second and third place, respectively.

Minister of National Defense Wellington Koo attended the event at the National Performing Arts Center plaza to watch the competition and present awards. Students also interacted and took photos with Minister Koo.

A total of 45 schools and 1,123 students participated in this year's competition. After regional preliminaries, nine schools advanced to the finals. If Gangming High School wins again next year, they will be able to keep the championship flag permanently.

The Ministry of National Defense set up 21 interactive booths at the site, showcasing the achievements of military clubs and national defense efforts. Many citizens stopped to experience the exhibits or listen to military personnel explain the equipment. The 'Jingfeng Type 1' drone developed by the National Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology attracted attention, and the airsoft shooting experience provided by the 'All-Out Defense Education Association' drew long queues.
