The Taipei Pingtung County Hometown Association held its annual meeting today, attended by New Taipei mayoral candidates Su Tsao-hui (DPP) and Lee Shu-chuan (KMT). Su emphasized her legislative achievements for Pingtung, while Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an recommended Lee as the key figure in bringing NVIDIA to Taipei.
DPP candidate Su Tsao-hui entered the venue with association chairman Wang Min-hsun to warm applause. Su highlighted her 10 years of service in New Taipei and her legislative efforts, including securing air conditioning for Pingtung schools and the undergrounding of power lines on the Ping-E Highway.
Su also noted her support for the extension of the Kaohsiung MRT to Pingtung, the establishment of a science park in Pingtung, and the entry of the TSMC supply chain into the region, promising to continue upgrading New Taipei.
On the other hand, Lee Shu-chuan appeared alongside Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an. Chiang stated that NVIDIA's decision to establish a base in Taipei was due to Lee's active assistance during his tenure as Deputy Mayor of Taipei.
Lee stated that NVIDIA could drive the development of the AI industry in the Taipei-New Taipei area. If elected, he promised to promote transportation infrastructure in New Taipei and connect an 'AI corridor' to boost employment and industrial development. He emphasized his Pingtung roots and his commitment to serving the people.
