At the U20 Asian Athletics Championships held in Hong Kong, Taiwanese athlete Dai You-Qin won the first gold medal for the Taiwan team in this event today, throwing 56.91 meters in the women's javelin. Not only did she set a personal best, but she also successfully met the qualifying standard for the Nagoya Asian Games.

Dai You-Qin, a student at Taoyuan Yangmei High School, broke the meet record at the National Secondary School Games last month, ending her high school career with a gold medal. At that time, she expressed her hope to qualify for the Nagoya Asian Games at the U20 Asian Athletics Championships. Now, she has fulfilled the wish she made a month ago and "unlocked" her first experience on the Asian Games stage.

Dai appeared in the women's javelin event at the U20 Asian Athletics Championships today. Her first throw of 53.58 meters put her in the lead, and her second throw reached 56.91 meters, not only securing the Asian Games standard of 56.80 meters ahead of schedule but also setting a personal best. She went on to break the 56-meter mark two more times, successfully securing the first gold medal for the Taiwan delegation in this tournament.

Dai pointed out that this year's winter training focused on basic movements, unlike in the past when she pushed herself too hard. By throwing with correct technique, she was able to throw as far as before without exerting all her effort. "My technique wasn't very good before, and I was just using brute force, so I couldn't fully release my power. Now I have a better feel for it."

In addition, Taiwanese athlete Liu Chen-Yu won a silver medal in the 400m hurdles with a time of 59.46 seconds. Long-distance rising star Chien Tzu-Chieh won his second silver medal of the tournament in the men's 1500m with a time of 3:45.58. The mixed 4x400m relay team, consisting of Tsai Hsin-Yu, Liu Chen-Yu, Lu Tsung-Han, and Chen Yi-Tsen, broke the national record with a time of 3:23.92 to take home the silver medal.
