Due to recent high temperatures in Chiayi City, the local fire department reported one heatstroke-related emergency last week. The Health Bureau reminds the public to maintain regular hydration, practice personal protection, and minimize unnecessary outdoor activities to avoid prolonged sun exposure. Individuals with chronic conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, and high cholesterol are at higher risk and should be extra vigilant. Health Bureau Director Liao Yu-wei stated that heatstroke symptoms include dizziness, headaches, nausea, palpitations, and fatigue. If symptoms occur, one should immediately move to a cool, ventilated area and seek medical attention if conditions do not improve. The bureau recommends avoiding outdoor activities between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM.
