Man Injured in Work Accident Becomes Fraud Mule; Prosecutors Request Suspended Sentence

A man surnamed Wu in Taichung was arrested in March for acting as a money mule for a fraud ring. Wu had been unemployed for two years following a work-related injury and was struggling to support his disabled child. Prosecutors stated that while his unfortunate circumstances do not excuse his crimes, they requested a suspended sentence, provided he reaches a settlement with the victims. Notably, Wu's son had reported his father's criminal activities to the police.
