New Taipei Police Arrest Thai 'Woman' for Sex Work, Passport Check Reveals Male Identity

Central News Agency (CNA) report by Wang Hong-guo from New Taipei City. The Xizhi Precinct of the New Taipei City Police Department announced today that they had broken up an illegal sex work case discovered through online patrols. A Thai national initially identified as a woman was brought in, but a passport check revealed the individual was male. The suspect will be fined according to the law.

According to the press release, police discovered posts suspected of soliciting sex work. On the afternoon of the 27th, officers contacted the poster and tracked them to a specific location, where they arrested a 40-year-old Thai national.

Police stated that upon verifying the passport, they found the individual was actually a man. The suspect entered Taiwan on May 19th with a visa-free tourist passport and had already engaged in sex work with multiple people. Evidence including condoms and lubricant was seized at the scene. Following questioning, police processed the case under the Social Order Maintenance Act, which carries a fine of up to NT$30,000. (Editor: Li Shu-hua)
