Ukrainian standout and 7th seed Elina Svitolina staged a comeback in the French Open round of 16 today, defeating 11th seed Belinda Bencic of Switzerland to advance to the women's singles quarterfinals. Svitolina took 2 hours and 3 minutes to overcome Bencic with a score of 4-6, 6-4, 6-0, marking her 6th career appearance in the French Open quarterfinals. The 31-year-old Svitolina recently won the Italian Open in mid-May and has been in good form, though she has yet to win a Grand Slam title. In the quarterfinals, Svitolina will face her fellow Ukrainian, 15th seed Marta Kostyuk.
