As the weather heats up, a theft case involving air conditioner outdoor units occurred in Taichung City. Police investigations revealed that two men, surnamed He and Shen, were involved in crimes in the Shalu and Wuqi areas. Police arrested both men and subsequently discovered that Shen was driving under the influence of drugs. The Qingshui Police Precinct issued a statement today. After receiving a report from a citizen on May 25 regarding the theft of an air conditioner unit, a task force was formed to investigate. By reviewing surveillance footage, police found that He and Shen were driving a small truck with stolen license plates and had stolen a total of three air conditioner units in the Shalu and Wuqi areas, valued at approximately NT$100,000. After gathering sufficient evidence, police applied for a search warrant from the Taichung District Court and launched a raid on May 29. They first arrested He in Shalu District and then intercepted and arrested Shen while he was driving in Fuxing Township, Changhua County. Amphetamines, etomidate cartridges, drug paraphernalia, and tools used in the crime were seized on the spot. Police stated that Shen tested positive for drugs via a saliva test, confirming his involvement in drug-impaired driving. The case has been referred to the Taichung District Prosecutors Office for charges including theft, violation of the Narcotics Hazard Prevention Act, and public endangerment (drug-impaired driving).
