According to the Central News Agency, accidents involving tourists have occurred frequently at the mysterious beach in Nan'ao, Yilan County. On May 31, 25 tourists were stranded due to high tides and waves and were later rescued. On the same day, a man and a woman were swept away by waves; the woman was rescued, but the man remains missing. In response to media reports, the NPA explained that since September 2022, it has posted notices at beach entrances prohibiting illegal commercial activities such as beach buggies, camping, and barbecues. The NPA emphasized that based on Executive Yuan meetings, environmental maintenance is entrusted to the Yilan County Government, while matters involving public authority, such as the management of beach buggies or water recreation, should be handled by the respective competent authorities in accordance with the law.
