According to a report by CNA reporter Wu Zhe-hao from Changhua, a man surnamed Chen, who was driving a small truck after using amphetamines, was pursued by police. While driving through Quanzhou Street in Lukang Township, Changhua County, he struck a woman surnamed Shi who was riding a scooter, killing her. The Changhua District Prosecutors Office has concluded its investigation and indicted Chen for murder and other charges. According to the press release, Chen used amphetamines at his home on April 3rd. While driving on Zhongshan Road in Lukang, he was spotted by police on patrol and ran a red light to flee. Despite police orders to stop, Chen accelerated, crossed into the oncoming lane on Quanzhou Street, and struck Shi from behind. He then accelerated over the victim and fled the scene. The woman was pronounced dead at the hospital. Prosecutors stated that police apprehended Chen at his home, and a urine test confirmed the presence of amphetamines. Chen has been indicted for dangerous driving and murder under the Criminal Code.
