According to CNA reporter Gao Hua-chi, the National Park Service announced today that the Yangmingshan National Park Marathon, which has not been held for 16 years, will take place on November 1 this year. The event features three categories: full marathon, half marathon, and a 5km road race. Registration opens on June 2 at 2:00 PM and will close once capacity is reached. The Ministry of the Interior's National Park Service stated at a press conference that to protect the volcanic groups and precious habitats of Yangmingshan, participant numbers are limited. The full marathon (42.195 km) is limited to 1,000 runners (fee: NT$1,000), the half marathon (21.0975 km) to 2,500 runners (fee: NT$800), and the 5km road race to 1,500 runners (fee: NT$600). Runners will pass iconic spots such as Zhongshan Hall, Qingtiangang, and Lengshuikeng. To align with national park values, the event incorporates sustainability, featuring eco-friendly race shirts made from 100% recycled PET bottles by Mizuno and plastic-free paper cups at aid stations. Professional pacers from 'Forest Run Station' will assist runners, and participants can enjoy discounts at local hot springs by showing their medals or bibs. The finish line will feature a Red Bull DJ truck and a mini-market with local produce.
