The documentary 'The Mountain' was screened in Finland yesterday. With Taiwan attracting international attention due to its semiconductor advantages, Representative to Finland Lin Chang-tso stated that focusing solely on industrial exchanges can feel cold, and that cultural works such as films and literature are the best channels for making friends and deepening bilateral understanding. 'The Mountain' was screened on a Sunday morning in early summer at the Helsinki Central Library Oodi, organized by the local Taiwanese community and co-organized by the representative office, with all 250 seats filled. Guests from Finnish political, media, industrial, and academic circles attended. In his speech, Lin thanked director Hsiao Chu-chen and promoted recent Taiwanese cultural events in Finland, including the publication of Finnish versions of 'Taiwan Travelogue' and 'Ghost Town,' and the upcoming Cloud Gate Dance Theatre performance. Lin told CNA that while mastering advanced manufacturing processes is a positive development, 'we cannot let people think Taiwan is only about chips.' He emphasized that culture represents the story behind a country. He noted that the active participation of the Taiwanese community is a great help to diplomatic work.
