The Supreme Court has rejected the appeal of Hsu Hsuan-yung, who participated in the kidnapping and murder of a Vietnamese man, finalizing his 7-year-10-month sentence. Four other accomplices, including Le Van Lac, did not appeal their second-instance sentences, which ranged from 12 years and 4 months to 13 years and 6 months. The case involved the kidnapping of a man surnamed Wu, who was held for ransom and eventually killed by suffocation. The body was buried in a sugarcane field in Yunlin County. The Supreme Court ruled on May 27 that the original judgment was sound, finalizing the case.
