Stanford University Accused of Receiving Funds from CCP-Linked Sources, Including 'Red Princelings'

The Stanford Review reported that undisclosed foreign funding documents provided by a whistleblower show that Stanford University received donations from Chinese state institutions, state-owned enterprises, and the Chinese Communist Party's political system, potentially including funds from 'red princelings.' According to the report, Stanford received at least $3 million in 2025 from Chen Yuan, designated for research at the Hoover Institution. Chen Yuan is the chairman of the China Association for International Friendly Contact (CAIFC), which has been identified by US reports as part of the CCP's overseas influence operations. The documents also reveal millions of dollars in donations and research contracts from entities such as BOE, Huawei, State Grid, and PetroChina. Stanford University declined to provide further details, citing its long-standing policy of not disclosing donor names or donation contents without authorization.
