Regarding the visit of Kuomintang (KMT) Chair Cheng Li-wun to the United States, the Chinese Foreign Ministry stated today that it should be handled in accordance with the 'One China' principle. According to Chinese media outlet The Paper, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning was asked at a regular press conference today about Cheng's visit and her expressed desire to meet with US President Trump. In response, Mao stated, "Regarding the issue of foreign exchanges by China's Taiwan region, it should be handled in accordance with the 'One China' principle." Cheng is leading a delegation to the US and is expected to hold discussions with prominent scholars at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University. She will also travel to Boston to visit and hold discussions at Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
