MOEA Responds to TPP Caucus: Drone Plan Provided

The TPP caucus in the Legislative Yuan questioned the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) regarding delays in receiving information about the 'Drone Industry Development Integrated Plan.' The MOEA responded that after receiving the notice on the 14th, it provided a 141-page plan on the 21st. It noted that budget documents are limited in length and cannot detail all information, but they will provide data within legal limits upon request. The MOEA explained that between May 14 and June 1, there were 12 requests from the TPP caucus and Legislator Hung Yu-hsiang. Consolidating data across six MOEA units and three state-owned enterprises takes time, and while they could not meet the next-day deadlines requested, they provided the information as soon as it was ready. The MOEA emphasized that all government plans follow established procedures and procurement laws, with no illegal budget allocation. It added that state-owned enterprises like Taipower, CPC, Taiwan Sugar, and Taiwan Water can use drones for inspections in harsh environments, reducing risks for staff. The MOEA stated it will review the plan for sensitive information before further public disclosure.
