Central News Agency (Tainan, June 2) - A man surnamed Tsai, who attacked and attempted to sexually assault a high school girl on her way home from school in Tainan City this April, has been detained. The Tainan District Prosecutors Office has concluded its investigation and indicted the suspect on charges of attempted forcible sexual intercourse and attempted robbery, requesting a heavier sentence. The case was transferred to the Tainan District Court today. On the afternoon of April 22 at 5:50 PM, the victim was walking on a sidewalk in Yongkang District when Tsai, wearing a mask and gloves, approached from behind, covered her mouth, pulled her bag, and attempted to drag her into a nearby vacant lot. The victim struggled and called for help. A passing motorcyclist stopped, picked up a wooden stick from the roadside, and deterred the suspect, who then fled. The victim managed to photograph the suspect's back with her phone and reported the incident with the motorcyclist's assistance. The victim suffered multiple contusions. Police immediately formed a task force and arrested Tsai on the afternoon of April 23 while he was riding a motorcycle on Shengli Road in East District. The prosecution's request for detention was granted after questioning.
