Central News Agency (Taipei, June 2) - At the BWF Super 1000 Indonesia Open, Taiwan's top mixed doubles pair, Ye Hong-wei and Nicole Chan, defeated fellow Taiwanese duo Wu Guan-xun and Lee Chia-hsin in the first round with scores of 21-19, 19-21, 21-16, advancing to the second round. Ye Hong-wei previously partnered with Lee Chia-hsin, reaching the world top 10 and competing in the Paris Olympics before splitting up. Now paired with rising star Nicole Chan, Ye faced his former partner in a hard-fought match. After a close first game, the pair secured a 21-19 win. Despite dropping the second game 19-21, they rallied in the third to win 21-16. Ranked 13th in the world, Ye and Chan, who previously won the historic All England Open, will face another Taiwanese pair, Liu Kuang-heng and Hsu Yin-hui, in the next round. Additionally, the Taiwanese twin pair Lee Fang-jen and Lee Fang-chih pulled off an upset against Paris Olympic silver medalists Liang Wei-keng and Wang Chang of China.
