Legislator Chung Chia-pin promotes Gaoshu taro and bananas, urges public support

DPP Legislator Chung Chia-pin held a marketing event today with the Gaoshu Township Farmers' Association and food businesses, bringing taro, bananas, and other processed agricultural products from Gaoshu Township to the Legislative Yuan. The event resembled a mini agricultural carnival, with Chung urging the public to purchase these high-quality products. Chung, along with Legislator Wu Li-hua, Gaoshu Township Mayor Liang Cheng-han, and Farmers' Association Chairman Liao Kun-chen, held a press conference, with Deputy Minister of Agriculture Hu Chung-i in attendance. Chung stated that Taiwan's agricultural products often suffer from price fluctuations—low prices during bumper harvests hurting farmers, and high prices during shortages hurting consumers. Therefore, supply adjustment and marketing are crucial. With bananas and taro currently in season, he encouraged not only eating them fresh but also processing them into chips, dried fruit, and taro paste. Chung emphasized that in addition to farmers' hard work, agricultural policies must be effective, noting his full support for the Ministry of Agriculture's budget. Deputy Minister Hu noted that farmers and processors are working together to provide affordable, high-quality domestic products, urging consumers to support local, seasonal produce.
