The National Basketball Coaches Association (NBCA) announced today that Hall of Fame coach Rick Adelman has passed away at the age of 79. During his 23-season NBA coaching career, Adelman led his teams to over 1,000 victories. He guided the Portland Trail Blazers to two NBA Finals appearances and later led the Sacramento Kings, where his team captivated the league with a fluid, high-scoring offense. Adelman recorded 1,042 career wins, ranking 10th in league history. During his eight seasons with the Kings, the team never missed the playoffs, reaching the Western Conference Finals in 2002. Known for his implementation of the 'Princeton offense,' Adelman emphasized passing and off-ball movement, significantly influencing the evolution of NBA offensive systems. He was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2021.
