(Central News Agency, Taipei, June 3) China's National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) held a state-owned enterprise (SOE) symposium on the 2nd, focusing on deepening the reform of state-owned assets and enterprises, and ensuring energy security. According to foreign media reports, previous NDRC symposiums primarily targeted private enterprises, making this focus on SOEs unusual.

According to the NDRC's WeChat public account, NDRC Director Zheng Shanjie chaired the SOE symposium on the 2nd, holding discussions with seven state-owned enterprises: China COSCO Shipping Corporation, China Coal Technology & Engineering Group, China Resources Recycling Group, China Logistics Group, China Digital Logistics Information Company, China International Cargo Airlines, and China Shenhua Coal-to-Liquid Chemical Company.

The symposium covered topics such as deepening the reform of state-owned assets and enterprises, advancing the construction of a unified national market, promoting green and low-carbon development, and ensuring energy security.

Zheng stated that it is necessary to seriously implement the "dual carbon" strategy, promote green and low-carbon development, facilitate the clean and efficient use of coal, promote the green and low-carbon transformation of the industry, and effectively ensure energy security.

Reuters reported that previous NDRC symposiums primarily targeted private enterprises, making this focus on SOEs unusual.

Geopolitical tensions in the Middle East have heightened concerns over energy supply for many countries. China has previously asked companies to accelerate the development of new energy systems to ensure energy security.

The US-led coalition and Israel's attack on Iran has lasted over three months, with the conflict currently in a stalemate. Negotiations for a temporary agreement have yet to yield results, and the Strait of Hormuz remains largely blocked, affecting energy supplies for many countries.
