Tainan Premium Coffee Evaluation Sees Record 42 Entries

After a two-stage selection process, the top prize, first prize, and gold quality award coffee beans were selected today. These results will serve as the basis for subsequent matchmaking, promotion, and marketing by the city government and farmers' associations.

The Tainan City Government held the award ceremony for the 115th Tainan Premium Coffee Evaluation at the Dongshan District Farmers' Association Agricultural Extension Education Center on the afternoon of the 3rd. Awards were presented for the top prize, first prize, and gold quality award. The highest scorer in this evaluation was Gao Feng Coffee Garden, which won 2 top prizes and 2 first prizes.

Wu Junjie, a specialist at the Tainan City Government Agriculture Bureau, stated in his speech that Dongshan coffee is a highly representative specialty agricultural product of Tainan. In recent years, thanks to farmers' improvements in cultivation management, post-processing, and quality control, coffee quality has steadily improved, gradually establishing a premium coffee brand image.

Wu noted that the significant increase in the number of entries this year compared to the past indicates that more farmers are willing to invest in premium coffee production, and it also shows that Tainan's coffee industry has formed an environment of healthy competition and mutual growth.

According to data from the Agriculture Bureau, 42 entries participated in this year's premium coffee evaluation, a twofold increase from 19 entries last year. The evaluation invited a professional team with experience in international premium coffee judging. Through preliminary and final rounds, professional assessments were conducted on aroma, flavor, acidity, sweetness, aftertaste, balance, cleanliness, and overall performance, striving for accuracy and fairness to align with international standards as soon as possible.

The Agriculture Bureau stated that the results of this annual selection of high-quality premium coffee not only demonstrate the continuous upgrade of Tainan's coffee industry but will also serve as an important basis for subsequent matchmaking, promotion, market marketing, and brand strategy layout.
