(Central News Agency, Taipei, June 4, 2025) National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) issued a statement today denying online rumors that Nobel Prize in Literature laureate Gao Xingjian had passed away in Paris, France. The university's Gao Xingjian Archive Center stated it continues to maintain email contact with him.

NTNU previously appointed Gao Xingjian as a chair professor, establishing a close relationship. Gao donated nearly 600 of his works to NTNU for preservation, leading to the establishment of the Gao Xingjian Archive Center. In recent years, he has also published new books and exhibited ink paintings and prints through the university.

In response to recent online rumors of Gao's death in France, the Gao Xingjian Archive Center at NTNU's library issued a statement today, emphasizing that it remains in regular contact with him and received an email from him on the evening of June 3 discussing collaborative projects.
