(Central News Agency, Penghu County, June 4) An elderly woman surnamed Luo Liao from the outlying island of Qimei in Penghu suffered a left femoral fracture. After a report was made, a Penghu Coast Guard patrol boat took over the rescue mission yesterday evening and transported her to Magong for further medical treatment.
The 13th Patrol Area of the Coast Guard's Kinmen-Matsu-Penghu Branch received a report at approximately 3:45 PM yesterday from the Qimei Health Center. The report stated that a 71-year-old woman, Luo Liao, required urgent medical evacuation due to a left femoral fracture. The Penghu Coast Guard Team was dispatched to assist, and the 7th Coast Guard Team's Magong Inspection Office and the Fire Bureau were also notified to coordinate.
The Penghu Coast Guard boat arrived at Qimei Fishing Port shortly before 5 PM, successfully embarked the patient, and returned to Magong Port at approximately 6:35 PM. The patient was then transferred to a Fire Bureau ambulance and taken to the Tri-Service General Hospital Penghu Branch for treatment.
The Kinmen-Matsu-Penghu Branch stated today that the Coast Guard operates around the clock and places great importance on the life safety and medical rights of outlying island residents. Adhering to the principle that 'time is life, speed is hope,' they respond immediately upon receiving a report. They urge the public to call the Coast Guard service hotline '118' or report through local health centers if assistance is needed, and the Coast Guard will dispatch personnel immediately.
