(Central News Agency, Changhua, 4th) Former Changhua City Mayor Chiu Chien-fu, who lost the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) primary for Changhua County Magistrate, stated today that he is a founding member of the DPP with 39 years of party membership. He has been preparing to run for Changhua County Magistrate for 12 years and will mail his party resignation letter by registered mail next week to complete the resignation process. Chiu told CNA reporters that this is his last opportunity to run and he will not miss it. The DPP Changhua County chapter stated that according to party rules, a member must submit a resignation letter to complete the resignation process. However, if a member runs against the party or registers as a candidate in violation of party discipline, their party membership will be revoked and they will be expelled. In the Changhua County Magistrate election, the DPP and the Kuomintang (KMT) have respectively nominated Legislator Chen Su-yueh and lawyer Wei Ping-cheng. Additionally, Chiu said on Facebook that he has accumulated governing experience, and the innovative thinking of young people is an important force for driving urban progress. He hopes that experience and innovation can collide to find a better direction for Changhua.
