(CNA Washington, 3rd Combined Foreign Reports) Billionaire Elon Musk's SpaceX is planning a record-breaking $75 billion initial public offering (IPO). According to regulatory documents filed today, the listing would value SpaceX at $1.765 trillion.

AFP reports that SpaceX plans to issue approximately 555 million new shares at a target price of $135 per share.

If successful, SpaceX would break the fundraising record held by Saudi energy giant Saudi Aramco, which raised $25.6 billion in its 2019 IPO.

Based on approximately 13 billion outstanding shares, SpaceX's listing valuation would reach an astonishing $1.765 trillion.

Analysts point out that Musk, already the world's richest person, could become the first human to surpass $1 trillion in net worth.

SpaceX acquired xAI, an artificial intelligence company founded by Musk, in February of this year. A year earlier, xAI had acquired social media platform X, formerly Twitter.

Analysts expect further integration of Musk's business empire, potentially even a merger with electric vehicle giant Tesla by 2027. Tesla has increasingly focused on robotics, energy, and autonomous transportation in recent years.

The two companies are already jointly developing several projects, including a large semiconductor manufacturing facility called Terafab.

Before SpaceX shares officially begin trading on the public market, direct share purchases are primarily available to large institutional investors such as banks and pension funds, as well as qualified high-net-worth individuals.

Reports indicate that SpaceX's staggering valuation is widely seen as reflecting investor belief in Musk's ability to deliver on science fiction-like promises, such as sending humans to Mars and deploying data centers in space, rather than the company's current business performance.

Founded in 2002, SpaceX pioneered private spaceflight. In 2012, it became the first private company to successfully dock a spacecraft with the International Space Station (ISS), and has since completed numerous successful cargo resupply missions.

In 2020, SpaceX became the first private company to send astronauts to the ISS.

Furthermore, SpaceX's high-production-value rocket launch livestreams have attracted massive viewership on social media, drawing crowds to launch sites across the United States to witness liftoff. (Translated by Liu Wenyu) 1150604
