(Central News Agency, Taipei, 5th) In the quarterfinals of the BWF Super 1000 Indonesia Open held today, the Taiwanese mixed doubles pair Ye Hong-wei and Chan Yu-chen squandered two match points in the second game, ultimately losing 21-19, 20-22, 13-21 to the Chinese pair Guo Xinwa and Chen Fanghui in a comeback defeat.

Ranked 13th in the BWF mixed doubles rankings, Ye and Chan faced the world No. 7 Chinese pair for the fourth time in their careers, with the Taiwanese duo holding a 1-2 disadvantage in previous encounters.

Before the match started, the game was delayed due to a malfunctioning electronic scoreboard. Subsequently, electronic equipment issues between games also affected the players' rhythm.

In the first game, the Taiwanese pair aggressively attacked in the first three shots and adhered to a strategy of avoiding high clears. Although they were always trailing, they kept the score close and scored 4 consecutive points from a 17-19 deficit to come from behind and win the first game.

The second game was a back-and-forth affair. Ye and Chan overcame a 15-18 deficit late in the game by scoring 5 straight points, including a spectacular behind-the-back save by Ye, to take a 20-18 lead with two match points.

Unfortunately, the Taiwanese pair then made two consecutive defensive errors, allowing their opponents to score 4 straight points and win the second game.

In the decisive third game, Ye and Chan's performance was affected by declining stamina, leading to poor shot selection and returns. After trailing 5-6, they allowed their opponents to score 5 consecutive points heading into the technical timeout.

After a brief rest, Ye and Chan were unable to mount a comeback and could only watch as the Chinese pair extended their lead, ultimately suffering the defeat.

Ye told CNA, "I wasn't feeling well today. I was trying to stretch and adjust during the game. The second game was indeed a bit too rushed, which is a pity, but we gave it our best."
