(CNA, by reporter Lu Gang-Chun, Hsinchu County, 7th) The Hsinchu County Government announced that it has recently received subsidy approval from the Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC) to jointly promote a smart traffic control plan for the Xinglong Bridge corridor in Zhubei during the afternoon peak. The plan will involve building dynamic traffic signals and a smart anti-collision system, hoping to effectively alleviate commute traffic from the Hsinchu Science Park with the infusion of central government resources.

The Hsinchu County Government stated in a press release today that its transportation department's proposal, "115th Fiscal Year Intelligent Transportation System Development and Construction Plan - Greater Hsinchu Xinglong Bridge Corridor (from Science Park to Zhubei) Afternoon Peak Smart Traffic Control Plan," stood out in a national competitive grant program. It was approved by the MOTC for a total budget of NT$32 million, with NT$16 million subsidized by the central government and NT$16 million self-funded by the county.

The county government pointed out that with the continuous industrial development and population influx in the greater Hsinchu area, the number of employees in the Hsinchu Science Park has reached 179,000. The government continues to enhance road service quality through smart technology and seeks central resources to implement intelligent traffic management systems, which can not only improve traffic congestion but also enhance road safety simultaneously.

The Hsinchu County Transportation Department noted that the county government and the Hsinchu Science Park Bureau had collaborated in the 114th year of the Republic (2025) to promote the "Xinglong Bridge Corridor (from Zhubei to Science Park) Morning Peak Smart Traffic Control Plan," which effectively improved traffic conditions around Xinglong Bridge. The newly approved project extends the results of the previous phase, focusing on the main congested sections from the Science Park back towards Zhubei during the afternoon peak hours.

The Transportation Department stated it will install 5 additional "Smart Anti-Collision Safety Warning Systems" at non-signalized intersections prone to accidents along the main traffic routes of Xinglong Bridge. Using real-time image recognition technology, the system will immediately activate roadside dynamic warning signs and LED warning lights to alert drivers when it detects an approaching vehicle.
