(CNA reporter Wang Hung-kuo, New Taipei, 9th) New Taipei City Mayor Hou Yu-ih stated at a public security meeting today that through the cooperation of land administration officers and the police, a total of 933 cases were effectively intercepted from January to May this year, preventing property losses for the public exceeding NT$800 million.

Hou presided over the public security meeting at the Police Department today, where he awarded personnel from banks and convenience stores for their meritorious service in jointly intercepting fraud cases. He particularly commended the joint efforts of land administration offices and the police in preventing real estate mortgage fraud, showcasing the results of public-private collaboration in safeguarding citizens' property.

Hou stated that through the full cooperation of land administration personnel, the police department, and all relevant units, a joint anti-fraud team was created. Through the team's constant and timely care, they successfully intercepted real estate mortgage fraud. From January to May this year, a total of 933 cases were effectively intercepted, significantly reducing the loss amount by over NT$800 million. This is a very important part of successfully building a protective network.

Hou also addressed the recent secret filming incidents at cosmetic surgery clinics, which have drawn public attention. He requested the Police Department to work with the Health Department, Sports Department, and the public security inspection team to strengthen inspections of such venues and to strictly handle any violations or illegal acts according to the law. By emphasizing both prevention and law enforcement, they aim to protect the peaceful life of the citizens.

Police Department Commissioner Fang Yang-ning stated that in response to recent major drug-impaired driving cases, and in coordination with the national "Crackdown on Drug-Impaired Driving and Drug Sources" project, the first phase of the "Thunder Sweep" operation has been initiated. Through high-intensity, dense law enforcement, expanded roadblocks, and tracing sources to their roots, the crackdown on drugs and drug-impaired driving will be intensified. Subsequently, a second phase "Special Enforcement Period" and a third phase "Road Safety Period" will be implemented to carry out the crackdown with full force.

He stated that in response to the summer vacation and temple procession activities, the police department will plan special operations focusing on security points such as youth gatherings, dangerous driving, and disturbances during processions. They will also continue to integrate resources from various bureaus to strengthen prevention and investigation work, fully safeguarding citizen safety and social order.
