(Central News Agency, Penghu County, June 9) The Penghu County Government's distribution of the Dragon Boat Festival Respect and Safety Allowance began today. All elderly residents aged 65 and over in the county will receive NT$5,000 each, and a Dragon Boat Festival慰问金 (solatium) for people with disabilities will be NT$3,000 each, with funds being directly deposited into accounts on June 11.

Penghu Deputy County Magistrate Lin Jie-xing stated that the distribution of the Dragon Boat Festival Safety Allowance today is a concrete implementation of County Magistrate Chen Kuang-fu's governance philosophy of upgrading welfare. He thanked the county council for its support, aiming to ensure that Penghu's elderly live safely and with dignity.

The Penghu County Government indicated that this year's Dragon Boat Festival Respect and Safety Allowance will be distributed from today until August 7. There are a total of 22,165 elderly people aged 65 and over in the county, each receiving NT$5,000, with a total required budget of over NT$100 million. For those who choose a bank transfer, the funds will be deposited into their designated accounts within three days following the start of distribution. Those who are unable to collect the allowance during the distribution period can apply for a supplementary payment between August 10 and August 14.

Furthermore, the Dragon Boat Festival solatium for people with disabilities in Penghu is NT$3,000 per person, which will be directly deposited into accounts on June 11. There are over 6,000 eligible recipients in the county. (Editor: Chang Ming-kun) 1150609
