Heavy Rain Warning Issued for 11 Counties; Kaohsiung and Pingtung on Alert for Extremely Heavy Rain

The Central Weather Administration (CWA) of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications issued a heavy rain warning for 11 counties and cities, including Taitung County, today. Due to the influence of a stationary front and southwest winds, short-duration, intense rainfall is expected. Kaohsiung City and Pingtung County are specifically warned of extremely heavy rain.

According to the CWA, from this afternoon through tomorrow, mountainous areas of Kaohsiung and Pingtung may experience localized heavy or extremely heavy rain. Localized heavy rain or heavy rain is expected in the mountainous areas of Hsinchu County, as well as in Miaoli County, Taichung City, Nantou County, Changhua County, Yunlin County, Chiayi County, Tainan City, Kaohsiung City, Pingtung County, the mountainous areas of Taitung, Lanyu Township, and Lyudao Township.

The CWA also stated that other areas and Penghu have a chance of localized heavy rain. The public is advised to beware of lightning and strong gusts. In mountainous areas, be cautious of landslides, falling rocks, debris flows, and rising river levels. In low-lying areas, beware of flooding and waterlogging.
