(CNA reporter Yang Shu-min, Taipei, 9th) The Taipei City Government's Department of Information and Tourism announced today that the 2026 Taipei Water Dance Carnival will take place from June 13th to 27th at the Rainbow Bridge at Xikou Wharf. The opening event will feature a 'fire and water dance' with music from the musical 'The Phantom of the Opera' and water screen projections.
According to the department's press release, the water dance performances will be held daily from the 13th to the 27th at 6:30 PM, 7:30 PM, 8:30 PM, and 9:00 PM.
The department stated that the first performance on the 13th will be at 7:30 PM, kicking off the event with a limited-edition 'fire and water dance.' This is Taiwan's only 'bridge + river surface' dual water dance performance, combining low-to-mid-altitude fireworks, a fire-breathing dragon, music from 'The Phantom of the Opera,' and water screen projections to create a visual and auditory feast. The same performance will be staged again at the same time on the closing day, the 27th.
In addition to the water dance, the department mentioned that large international IP balloons will appear in rotation, and the public can take photos with My Little Pony and Pingu family installations by the riverbank. During the Dragon Boat Festival holiday and other holidays, artists from the YOYO family will appear to interact with the public.
Furthermore, the department said that phased traffic control measures will be in place around the area during the event. This includes the prohibition of bicycles from 5:00 PM to 9:30 PM, Friday to Sunday, at the Ji-Si No. 4 Evacuation Gate, on the Rainbow Bridge, and on the bikeway on the Songshan side of the outer embankment from McArthur Bridge I to Chengmei Changshou Bridge. The 'YouBike Raohe Evacuation Gate Station' will also suspend operations during this period. (Editor: Li Ming-tsung) 1150609
