(Central News Agency, reporter Lu Yan-ci, Taipei, 9th) The Ministry of Finance today announced that May exports reached US$78.48 billion, the second highest monthly figure on record, a year-on-year increase of 51.7%, marking 31 consecutive months of positive growth. Among these, exports of information, communication and audio-visual products reached US$34.84 billion, the second highest monthly figure on record, while exports of electronic components reached US$26.84 billion, a new all-time monthly high.
The Ministry of Finance today released preliminary customs trade statistics for May. Export value was US$78.48 billion (up 51.7% year-on-year), while import value reached US$60.57 billion, a new all-time monthly high, up 54.9% year-on-year.
Cumulatively, from January to May, exports totaled US$341.83 billion (up 48.7% year-on-year), and imports totaled US$256.63 billion (up 37.8% year-on-year). (Editor: Pan Yi-jing) 1150609
